You are so talented, the detail is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your work.

Vicki, I absolutely feel like crying. It’s amazing, so perfectly connected to the Hope wall. I can’t stop looking at it! Really beautiful. It makes me believe we can get rainbow paint!

Our little hare friend arrived safely and appears quite happy with his new home! And we, his new caretakers, couldn’t be more thrilled with him and delighted with your brilliant work!! He’s even more gorgeous than in the pictures. I am over the moon.

My father-in-law isn’t often moved to shed a few tears but your portrait certainly did just that. As birthday presents go I think you nailed it for him!

Just awesome Vicki. The movement you create and use of colour are stunning.

About Vicki

Vicki Davidson is an artist with a passion for bright, dynamic and inspirational art. Always keen to experiment, Vicki works in oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolour, charcoal…and anything she can get her hands on to make a mark really! Subjects include portraits, animals (especially hares!) and, more recently, landscapes.

Although Vicki studied art and design at ‘A’ Level, a busy career in nursing has left little time for her passion. Vicki’s nursing career has taken her around the world, including London, Australia, an African expedition and even some time in a Field Hospital during her time as a reservist with the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps. Now her two children are growing up, and needing her less, Vicki has decided to pursue her passion for art.

In 2017 Vicki started sharing her work on social media and in a few select local galleries. The artwork has rapidly generated a keen interest, resulting in commissions and requests for prints of the work. Vicki still works as a nurse for the NHS, currently a Clinical Matron working within cardiothoracic services and critical care. Vicki, originally from Dartmoor in Devon, lives on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales with her husband and two children.

Day 18 - ColourThis is an easy one- I absolutely LOVE colour!! 🎨I sometimes like to work in black and white but I never stray too far from bold, bright and cheerful palettes. These @unisoncolour pastels are one of my favourite and the colour is so pure and vivid. I also love to create with acrylic, oil, watercolour and gouache paints.I am like a child in a sweet shop when I go to an art store (@theartshops is my favourite local shop with excellent service and I also like @jacksons_art )It’s fair to say I have spent a sizeable chunk on new art materials in recent years. As a consequence I wear rags and drive an uncool car 🚘#colour #colourful #colourlover #brightcolours #artistsoninstagram #vividcolours #colourfulpalette #artsupplies #vickidavidson #northyorkshireartist
Day 16 (a bit late) - From the ArchiveMid-40’s and not much art output since ‘A’ Level at 18, this picture from 2017 launched me back into creativity.Made on a rainy day whilst accompanying my daughter doing her art and using an old box of pastels.Hares have been a mainstay of my work since but I continue to experiment with subject, colour, medium and size. This A3 size painting was gifted to my Dad for Father’s Day and hangs beautifully framed in his kitchen 💝It was shortly after that I made my first fine art prints and started sharing and selling my work.See back to Day 9 of #marchmeetthemaker ‘Learning Curve’!#meetthemaker #artistsoninstagram #northyorkshireartist #vickidavidson #artist #creative #independentbusiness #independentsmallbusiness #pastelartist

#marchmeetthemaker2021Day 11 - PortraitI’m quite sure you don’t want a portrait of me, so here are some I’ve painted instead.I love painting portraits although it’s sometimes very tricky. ‘Likeness’ to the subject is the most challenging aspect due to often very subtle details. Choosing what to include and what to ‘play around’ with can make or break the portrait.Again, I tend to favour strong colours and bold tonal contrasts.#marchmeetthemaker2021 #marchmeetthemaker #meetthemaker #portraits #portraitpainting #portraitpaintersofinstagram #northyorkshireartist #vickidavidson #oilpainting #pastelart #pastelportrait #creative #painting #artistic
Day 9 - Learning CurveAll I can say is steep, very steep!I started sharing my art in 2017 and have learnt about galleries, prints, open editions, limited editions and framing options.
This is one of my first prints 🦌Having previously only worked in pastel I have learnt ink drawing, watercolour, acrylic and oil painting. I’ve learnt about dry media, wet media and mixed media. I’ve learnt colour theory and studied many different artists and their work.
I’ve started from scratch with social media and marketing, website development (with help!) and email newsletters.I still feel very new and I hope this is just the beginning of much, much more to learn. Also, it’s a great deal of fun!! 😃#marchmeetthemaker #marchmeetthemaker2021 #meetthemaker #creative #learningtobeanartist #artistsoninstagram #steeplearningcurve #pastelart #fineartprints #acrtlicpainting #oilpainting #learningtopaint #vickidavidson #northyorkshireartist

What is Giclée printing?

Giclée is a French word (pronounced Zhee-Clay) which literally means “fine spray”. Giclée fine art prints are produced digitally on high quality inkjet printers, which have the capability to reproduce a much wider range of colours than conventional processes, due to the specially formulated inks and media used. The Giclée process is really the only current solution available to artists who wish to obtain a close match to their original work and have the peace of mind that the prints will remain vibrant and fade resistant for decades to come.

All of the printing at Vicki Davidson is carried out by Nidd Imaging. Their quality of prints is exceptional!

Each print is approved by Vicki to ensure the colour match is as exact as possible to the original.

You can see more about Nidd Imaging and their printing process via;
