A little watercolour process 💦 🖌️

Painted as part of a recent art club demo, but finished later in the studio as watercolour can be a bit slow building up the layers!

So satisfying to see this beautiful strong character emerge from the delicate washes of colour.

For @doncaster_art_club

I managed to finish my hare demo for you today.

I continued to do just the same as we did during the demo- building layers, focusing on ‘shapes’ and finishing with finer details.

It was definitely easier working flat with the watercolours than upright on the easel 😁

Due to several unwanted marks on my nice clean white background, it was necessary to apply a liberal sprinkling of ‘splatter’! 💦 🖌️ 🎨

I’ve included a couple of time lapse videos to help you see how the painting progressed after I left you.

I hope you have fun creating your own animal artworks by applying some of these techniques, and I can’t wait to see the results!

Then I will capture the image with @niddimaging just in case anyone fancies prints.

I work quite quickly (although this is speeded up of course 😂 so not THAT quick!) and here I’m using compressed willow charcoal and white pastel.

I’m not sure the result was spectacular, but it’s just part of my regular practice.
