New Cycling Works
Two vibrant new cycling-themed works added to Vicki’s collection
Two bold, bright, and dynamic cycling-inspired artworks have been released this week. The works are striking, and both feature heavy and textured (impasto) palette knife painting.
The piece titled ‘Colour Wheels’ is a red-and-blue dominant palette, with accents of green and yellow. This painting started out as a relatively boring and straightforward depiction, but some thick paint applications (straight from the tube!) and scrapes with the palette knife soon livened things up a little! This was great fun to create, and it’s certainly attracted a lot of attention from cycling fans on social media!
The reference photo was of one of my favourite cyclists – Peter Sagan- although there is very little from the original photo used since the colours have gone a bit bonkers. I also enjoyed abstracting the image to create a sense of movement and drama.
The second piece features a downhill mountain biker – the first time a mountain bike has been featured in Vicki’s cycling collection.

Again, thick, and textured paint adds a gnarly effect to the canvas and a bold colour palette helps this painting really stand out.
The cyclist and background are abstracted to ensure a sense of drama, with blue and orange complimentary colours helping the image really ‘pop’.
This is a large canvas, at 90cm x 90cm, and will make an excellent feature piece in a modern home. Perfect for the bike lover!
Vicki’s cycling-inspired collection is steadily growing, with more expected so do keep your eyes on the website and social media. Let me know if you have any special requests or funky ideas for new works!
